WHEN IS THE
ORAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST RECOMMENDED?
The oral glucose tolerance test is used to assess the body’s carbohydrate metabolism, determining how the body processes glucose. This helps diagnose diabetes, prediabetes, and other disorders.
To rule out gestational diabetes, the test is routinely performed between the 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy, or as directed by the attending physician.
If there is a history of carbohydrate metabolism disorders in the family, such as diabetes or insulin resistance.
